These pieces were created during a recent artist residency at the Sitka Center for Art and Ecology on the Oregon coast near Lincoln City. Check out the photo journal of my activities during the month I worked there. "Cascade Head Beach" is a grid of 40 6" x 6" canvases, each of which is an independent artwork in its own right; but they also add up to a collective scenic impression of my time spent on the beach, micro- and macro-photographing whatever caught my eye. The artworks titled Site C and Site D are the result of "planting" unprimed canvasses in various places around the area; under a log section in the sand, under river rocks, plants and soil. They were "harvested" several weeks later, after mold, mineral rust, and the elements had left their own "self-portraits" on the canvas. They have since been cleaned, sterilized, stretched and coated for safe exhibition.
