A one-month Artist Residency at the Hambidge Center for Creative Arts and Sciences gave me the opportunity to explore Betty’s Creek and the forested mountains along Georgia’s northern border, south of Asheville NC. What I found most intriguing was the combination of autumn leaves and local granite rocks blanketing the streambed. What variety of organisms must that environment support?
